Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a technique, invented in 1952 by French physician Dr. Michel Pistor, where medication is injected into the mesoderm, the layer of fat and connective tissue under the skin. Worldwide, over 15,000 physicians have used Mesotherapy on a daily basis for a variety of purposes, including overall weight loss, cellulite reduction, hair loss, wrinkle elimination, and scar revision. However, the most common use of mesotherapy is to burn excess and unwanted fat that has accumulated in the body and it is for this use only that mesotherapy is offered at Rossi Wellness Center.
In mesotherapy, very small doses of various medications are administered in targeted areas including the chin, jowel, back flanks, love handles, arms, bra straps, and under eye pads. The medicines melt down the fats that have accumulated in the adipose (fat) tissue. The burnt or melted fats are then flushed out of the body by way of the kidneys and bowel without any changes in your bowel habits.
The medicines that we use at Rossi Wellness Center are obtained from only PCAB (Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board) certified compounding pharmacies in the United States. All medicines are FDA approved, however, these drugs have not been approved for the cosmetic purposes involved with mesotherapy and are used “off-label”. A similar illustration of this distinction is Botox. Although Botox is FDA approved for controlling muscle spasms, the medical community embraced it for its cosmetic properties of controlling wrinkles. Thus, for many years, health care providers have used Botox for “off-label” purposes.
Mesotherapy treatments are administered every one to two weeks for up to eight treatment sessions, depending on treatment area.
