Dermal Fillers

  • About Fillers

We often see the first signs of aging in the form of lines and wrinkles on our face. There are many causes of why we get lines and wrinkles such as being out in the sun for long periods and facial expressions such as smiling, blinking your eyes, and squinting. Heavy smokers are also known to get wrinkles much sooner (so duh, don’t smoke!) as the nicotine can dry out the skin and make the skin look dull and dry. Also, poor hydration can cause wrinkles (yes, drink more water) as does poor diet, genes and sometimes allergies. There are many products on the market that can reduce wrinkles. Rossi Wellness Center offers you the most popular wrinkle solutions available including, Sculptra, Radiesse, and Juvederm.

You will receive a free facial filler consultation. During this consultation, your Rossi Wellness Center provider will advise you of available treatments, and discuss what expectations you have as well as what to expect from the treatment.

Keep in mind that there are many practitioners who will perform dermal filler treatments. However, some may not have expertise with the specific procedures- the injection technique, the proper dosage- or may not offer a medical setting with the highest level of quality care. Finding a provider with extensive, specific dermal filler treatment experience is important for safety and for achieving optimal results as well as ensuring that you receive the most appropriate treatment for your condition.

At Rossi Wellness Center, you are in the hands of two of the most experienced dermal filler providers in the nation. Dr. Glat is a nationally recognized plastic surgeon with extensive dermal filler treatment experience and Mr. Del Rossi is an expert Sculptra injector (specifically for those who are HIV positive with facial lipoatrophy), having been trained by the best and earliest Sculptra treatment providers in the nation and personally performing over 1,000 Sculptra treatments. As well, he has trained extensively with Botox, Radiesse and Juvederm.

  • Sculptra

Sculptra is a synthetic injectable that is injected below the surface of the skin. It has been used throughout Europe since 1999 to improve the appearance of aging skin folds, indented chin surfaces, hollowed cheeks, and sunken eyes. Sculptra is climbing in popularity in the United States. Initially approved for facial wasting in people with HIV, this filler now has approval from the FDA for the treatment of deep nasolabial folds (smile lines) and other facial wrinkles.

Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid material. The material has been commonly used in dissolvable stitches and soft tissue implants. A natural form of poly-L-lactic acid is produced in our muscles during exercise. The material is biocompatible (does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body).

The procedure can take from 15-45 minutes. You may experience discomfort from the needle injections. You can return home within minutes after the procedure.

Sculptra provides up to 80 percent improvement in the treated areas. Results gradually become evident over the course of a few weeks and become fully evident in three to six treatment sessions. Sculptra can last up to two years. Treatments have to be repeated in future years to maintain the benefit.

  • Radiesse

As part of the aging process, the collagen in your face breaks down (collagen gives your face volume, flexibility, and strength). The loss of elasticity and volume results in wrinkles and facial lines that take away that youthfulness in your face. The unique formulation of Radiesse volumizing filler stimulates collagenesis- the production of new collagen-which results in increased volume that may last a year or more in many patients.

The procedure involves injecting a compound of calcium hydroxyl apatite microspheres that are suspended in a carboxymethylcellulose gel (wow, that’s a big word). The gel contains an organic compound of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, as well as glycerin and sterile water. Thin connective tissue forms around the microspheres so that the microspheres act as filler that remains permanently implanted at the site location. What’s unique about Radiesse is that these microspheres act as a scaffold under the skin, providing structure and stimulating your own collagen to grow.

The procedure can take 15-45 minutes depending upon the extent of treatment. It may be performed with local anesthesia. Results are fully evident within one week. You can return home within minutes after the procedure. Radiesse can last one year or more in many patients.

  • Juvederm

Juvederm is a smooth gel dermal filler approved by the FDA in June 2006 for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds around your mouth and nose. Juvederm is also useful for enhancing lip volume and for reshaping cheek contours.

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps provide fullness and elasticity. It is biocompatible, supplementing the body’s natural hyaluronic acid, which age has depleted.

Juvederm improves your appearance by lifting and adding volume to the wrinkles and folds in the treatment area. After six to nine months, the compound is naturally absorbed into the body. Results from Juvederm are immediate.

Your Rossi Wellness Center provider will advise you on whether this is the best filler option for you.
